Job Description:
DUTIES
Will be responsible for monitoring the relocation of dry utilities being moved to accommodate current and future NCDOT road and bridge construction projects. Will work closely with a team of inspectors to ensure that utilities are relocated according to approved relocation agreements and to exercise judgement when minor deviations from the agreements are necessary due to field or construction conditions. Must ensure that adjustments are not in conflict with the new roadway or bridge construction. Must provide detailed and timely reports of daily activities on the projects.
EXPERIENCE
Must have some utility construction and/or utility construction inspection experience. Experience with the installation of dry utilities on NCDOT roadway and bridge projects a big plus. Must be able to read and understand roadway, bridge and utility plans and utility relocation agreements.
SKILLS
Must have good basic math, writing and reading skills. Must be physically able to lift testing equipment weighing as much as 30 pounds and walk up and down slopes and be able communicate effectively with others and the general public. Should have working knowledge of computers/iPads.
Must be able to get along and work productively with others including KCI and NCDOT technicians, contractor personnel and the public.
DEGREES / LICENSES (R)EQUIRED (P)REFERRED
Must have NCDOT Erosion Control Level 2 certification or be able to get this certification within 30 days of starting. Must be able to obtain NCDOT certifications in concrete field testing, QMS asphalt and conventional density during first nine months.
OTHER
Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment.
