Job Description:

The electrical design group is responsible for the analysis and design of electrical systems related facilities, utilities and infrastructure.--- Project types include life science facilities, industrial and commercial facilities, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and transportation maintenance facilities.

Our Raleigh, NC office is seeking an Electrical Engineer.

The Electrical Engineer will assist in the development of calculations, reports, code analysis and design documents and progressively accept more responsibility. Calculations will include short circuit and load flow, arc flash hazard, lighting, grounding and other calculations related to the design and analysis of electrical systems. Design documents will included drawings and specifications including power plans, lighting plans, fire alarm plans, special systems plans, grounding plans, schematic and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• 
  Perform site survey of existing system conditions.
  
  
• 
  Provide support during construction activities as needed.
  
  
• 
  Work with the lead engineer to understand the scope of work, schedule, budget, project instructions and responsibilities.
  
  
• 
  Prepare clear, complete, and accurate drawings from rough or detailed sketches.
  
  
• 
  Involved in application of engineering fundamentals to design.
  
  
• 
  Work with lead engineer to determine intent and contents of each drawing.
  
  
• 
  Complete drawing responsibility tasks within scope, budget and schedule: review drawings for completeness, constructability and coordination.
  
  
• 
  Start and maintain a discipline file of working drawings for the project.
  
  
• 
  Perform duties of Senior CAD Operator as needed.
  
  
• 
  Works independently on design projects to support Design Engineer and will often coordinate drafting efforts for projects.
  
  
• 
  Apply the requirements of the National Electrical Code and size and specify electrical components and materials.
  
  
• 
  Prepare equipment layouts and establish proper space requirements
  
  
• 
  Prepare power plans, lighting plans and panel schedules including all branch circuiting
  
  
• 
  Coordinate all electrical design work with other design disciplines (architectural, mechanical, site, plumbing).
  
  
  Minimum Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • 
    Minimum Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
    
    
  • 
    Five (5) plus years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of electrical systems
    
    
  • 
    2+ years of AEC industry experience
    
    
  • 
    EIT OR PE highly perferred
    
    
  • 
    AutoCAD experience required.
    
    
  • 
    Revit experience highly desirable.
    
    
  • 
    Knowledge of low voltage power distribution is required.
    
    
  • 
    Knowledge of lighting design is preferred.
    
    
  • 
    Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
    
    
  • 
    Detail oriented.
    
    
  • 
    Must have the ability to work as a team member to meet tight deadlines.
    
    
  • 
    Superior verbal and written communication skills.
    
    
  • 
    Proficiency in SKM Software for Power System Analysis
