Job Description:
The Production Manager is responsible for the entire production
process of the company. They oversee, manage, coordinate, and train
all activities related to the construction operations of the
assigned area and team members. The Production Manager is
responsible for all jobs being completed on time, on budget and
with a high level of quality. The Production Manager will represent
the company for all construction related items as part of the
management team while pursuing a high level of customer
satisfaction with a Customer First Leadership Behavior. Other
responsibilities include but are not limited to the below:
- Ensures compliance with all company rules, policies and
agreements
- Supervise, train and mentor an assigned construction team
- Evaluates quality at each production step
- Documents company procedures and train employees and
subcontractors in said procedures
- Support the Division Manager in day-to-day Management of all
projects and Construction
Management staff
- Support Division Manager in Daily Activities and Company
relations
- Once a job has been sold and turned in by the sales department
with the cost breakdown, the production manager will field-check
the job, checking all costs to determine whether the job can be
performed to a satisfactory conclusion at the specified profit
- Once a job has been accepted by the company, the production
manager sets up the job as ready for construction. This will
include confirming or writing up material lists for every item;
which may include negotiating prices with subcontractors and
writing up work orders, and completing the Spec/Req folder
- Prior to the start of work, the production manager will review
the contracted scopes with the sub-contractor assigned to the
project and debug the job, ensuring that all specifications and job
conditions have been reviewed
- Prior to the start of work, the production manager will ensure
the assigned construction team is trained on and conducts a
pre-construction meeting with the customer to review the build
details and all decisions made by the customer. It may not be
necessary for the production manager to attend.
- The production manager is responsible for ensuring that
communication between the customer and the construction team is
maintained up to and exceeding the company standard.
- The production manager will ensure that routine change orders
are estimated, written accurately, and signed by the customer and
the sub-contractor. When change orders involve more substantial
work than is typically handled by the sub-contractor, the
production manager will coordinate with purchasing as well as the
sales department on the pricing and the selling of change
orders.
- The production manager maintains an adequate work force of
construction team members and sub-contractors to meet the needs of
the company.
- Prior to the completion of the job, the production manager will
ensure the construction team is trained and conducts a
pre-settlement orientation meeting the company standards.
- The production manager approves all requests for payments to
sub-contractors.
- The production manager reviews the final plans and
specifications related to permitting. They will also train and
ensure the construction team coordinates all necessary inspections
during the course of the build.
- The production manager will assist in the development of
standardized products and systems and develop a relationship with
suppliers and subcontractors in every category. This will be a
strategic brand partnership and will include training and technical
support, as well as potential pricing and delivery engagement.
- Based on the needs of the assigned area and other company
related events, attendance may be required outside of typical work
hours.
- Physical requirements of a production manager require an
ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to
communicate, exchange information, collect information,
compile/prepare work documents, set-up/maintain work files all
through interfacing with technology devices/programs. May require
occasional lifting, up to 25 lbs.
