The Sr. Cybersecurity Analyst will secure Cengage Group's infrastructure against insider and outsider threats. Working with the Cybersecurity Manager, they will investigate and seek for suspicious activity while operating innovative security tools for threat detection, response, and remediation. We are looking for diligent and curious people to be a part of our Global SOC team. As a member of this team, you'll take an integral role within a 24x7 operational SOC. You will be responsible for analyzing and defending Cengage's application, network, server, and end user environment in a multitude of situations. This role for the Cybersecurity team protects Cengage's customers, employees, brand, and data.
Position Description (Crucial Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Performing ongoing security analysis and triage of endpoint, network, mobile, and cloud alerts.
  • Participating in various stages of incident investigations and threat hunting engagements.
  • Writing and delivering detailed investigation and analysis reports while maintaining user documentation.
  • Engaging in cross-team interactions at all levels from SOC analysts to c-suite executives.
  • Analyzing, triaging, and remediating security incidents within defined SLAs.
  • Working closely with internal company teams
    Performance Metrics:
    • Closure time/rate for security defects
    • Ability to integrate security tools
    • Performance of network assessments
      Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
      • 5+ years of experience working in IT security
      • 4+ years of relevant cybersecurity experience in Incident Response, endpoint security, digital forensics, and a demonstrable understanding working in a 24x7/follow-the-sun SOC
      • Background and experience in the following is a must:
      • Malware analysis, Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, Reverse Engineering, or Digital Forensics.
      • Detailed knowledge of modern operating systems (Linux, OS X, & Windows)
      • Tried foundation in networking protocols and architectures
      • Experience with security tools and frameworks (NIST, SIEM, SOAR, etc.)
      • Experience with a scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Scala etc.)
      • Self-motivated and results-oriented; capable of leading and completing assignments without supervision
      • Good interpersonal skills and ability to handle a wide range of tasks and prioritize them on short notice
      • Motivation to constantly improve processes and methodologies
      • Ability to investigate a problem
      • Able both independently as well collaborate within a team in a remote work setting.
      • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills, experience working with international customers
        Preferred
        • Bachelor or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or similar.
        • Cybersecurity Certifications a plus
        • Experience with information security standard methodologies and security frameworks.
        • Experience with current cyber threats and tactics used to infiltrate computer networks
        • Experience with network intrusion detection and response operations
        • Proven background in networking
