Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for a well-rounded Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who will help support and extend our globally distributed infrastructure running on IBM Cloud, VMWare, and RedHat OpenShift. This SRE is dedicated full-time to creating software and systems that improve the reliability of our production IBM Security Services platform, fixing issues, responding to incidents, and handling on-call rotation responsibilities. Practices include measuring and responding to the 4 golden signals, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, operational automation, performing and managing postmortems, managing toil, gathering service level indicators, and more.

This role requires a broad enough technical background to be able to quickly become familiar with a new system or issue as needed by applying previous experience, curiosity, and skills to research and understand new topics.

Successful candidates are aware of the importance of metrics, automating toil, chasing 9's, and of the craftsmanship required to deliver high quality code to production. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of these practices as well as experience with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, NodeJS, Golang, and other programming languages. Preferable mix of software development and operations background with an emphasis on operations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

5+ years of combined experience in software engineering and or System Administration.

3+ years of expertise in Ansible, Shell, Python, Terraform, Linux, Kubernetes, and Microservices

3+ years of expertise in working with collecting, displaying, and analyzing system metrics with Grafana and Prometheus.

3+ years of experienced in working within a regulated environment with full compliance and security implications.

Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Broad background in system administration and software development

Knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, firewalls, and encryption.

Experience in operating hybrid cloud workloads in production
