NC--Carpenter technologies is looking for an experienced data
governance steward with an analytical mindset and a detailed
understanding of cloud data governance and security methodologies,
particularly within Azure. Data Governance Steward is expected to
have a meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving
skills, work comfortably under pressure and deliver on tight
deadlines. The ideal candidate must be familiar with cloud and data
base applications services development standards and best
practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a very strong
foundation with data security design/architecture best practices as
well as deep understanding of the compliance and risk mitigation
landscape.The Senior Data Governance Steward will --. . .
- Advance the organization's thinking of data governance
concepts, explaining the benefits of data governance policies and
procedures within the context of the user's needs
- Define and execute processes to monitor data governance
policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and privacy,
establish consistent data definitions, and monitor overall data
quality
- Identify producers and consumers of master data as well as how
the data will be used for reporting and analytics
- Document and implement data quality policies, standards, and
procedures existing and new data environments
- Perform data audits, identify data collection issues, suggest
improvements, and help implement fixes.
- Identify opportunities and processes to ensure data meets the
following characteristics, including but not limited to accuracy,
validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance and completeness
- Stay up to date with data governance industry training and
apply best practices to current and future data governance
initiatives
- Align data governance objectives with overall business
goals
- Performing and documenting Cloud-Focused IT Risk assessments
and reviews
- Consulting and guiding technology leaders on risk and control
best practices associated with utilizing capabilities in a cloud
environment.
- Collaborating with peers in Architecture, development, IT, etc.
to assist in the development of security risk and control best
practices
- Proactively work with management on topics of migrating
compliance controls from existing systems into a cloud
environment.
- Ability to perform Risk Control Self-Assessments in a
cloud-Enabled environment.
- Applying Security-as-Code principles
- Assisting with the architecture and design of API Security,
Container Security, Azure Cloud Security.
- Developing the automation of security and compliance
capabilities in support of DevOps processes
- Implementing security features and monitoring tools, performing
periodic security assessments to verify best practice
configuration.
- Collaborate with Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineering and Data
Engineering teams to ensure alignment with security requirements
and architecture standards.
- Define security standards. Leads in the use and adoption of
standard frameworks that align with overall business and technology
strategies.
- Coordinate with the Data Architects to document data flows of
sensitive information and recommend controls to ensure that this
data is adequately secured
- Validate reference architectures for security best practices
and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risks, where
applicable
- Perform all other duties and special projects as
assigned.Required for the Senior Data Governance Steward position
- --Bachelor's degree in technology field, computer science or
related field.
- 5+ years related work experience.
- Strong knowledge of Vulnerability/compliance, Patch management,
Anti-malware, Access Control Management toolsets
- Proficiency in Public Cloud - Azure, AWS, GCP Infrastructure
and inter/intra cloud networking and connectivity.
- Strong Technical knowledge of secure engineering principles,
privacy (DPA / GDPR) and compliance law and standards
(OWASP\ISO\ISF\NIST)
- Advanced experience with data auditing
- Experience with Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Cloud Security
Matrix and associated domains
- Familiarity with the NIST Cloud Computing Referencing
Architecture and associated standards
- Direct experience performing cloud, IT, and/or risk reviews and
audits
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills,
interpersonal skills, project management skills and the ability to
organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
- Willingness to work in a fast paced team based environment with
frequently changing priorities and experience working with remote
colleagues and teams.Preferred for the Senior Data Governance
Steward position
- Data Governance certification (i.e., DAMA Certified Data
Management Professional (CDMP) or Data Governance and Stewardship
