Overview:

Dispatchers needed in Raleigh Location (Pay beginning at $18.70 /hr.).

GoRaleigh is actively seeking a transit dispatcher for their Raleigh location. We are looking for qualified dispatchers who can provide excellent customer service to both our passengers and our drivers. Must be self-motivated, with ability to follow directions and an excellent communicator, able to work under minimal supervision and competently perform current scheduling techniques. Additional duties include resolving scheduling conflicts as they occur, schedule maintenance, collecting data, providing reports and providing accurate information to the dispatch supervisor. Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, continually changing environment.

  • Scheduling: Daily runs for operators, prepares the extra board, supervises operation of the extra board, making necessary assignments in proper rotation, prepares charter assignments as needed.
  • Responsible for daily sign in log, reviews route modifications with supervisors and operators, update and monitor dispatch sheet make necessary changes, checks operators' availability.
  • Assist dispatch supervisor: Ensure that work is distributed evenly among operators and road supervisors, proper uniform inspection, check operator daily report sheets, receives information and complaint calls outside of general office hours, receives calls by telephone or radio giving locations and descriptions of problems and dispatches assistance as necessary.
  • Track all equipment to ensure proper utilization and prevent losses.
  • Make sure equipment is returned in same condition issued.
  • Cross-train to cover workload distribution in the event a Dispatcher is out.
  • Monitor and oversee operator logs to ensure compliant practice in offering dispatches to the appropriate drivers.
  • Coordinates daily with those handling the scheduling duties for each dispatch shift.
  • Review for logs daily.
  • Communicates disruptions with other dispatchers, supervisor, and road supervisors.
  • Responds, records, and resolves customer feedback.
  • Communicates and coordinates with internal departments to help meet customer needs.
  • Performs weekly audits that meet Transdev's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain detailed call logs and records.
  • Other duties as requiredQualifications:Qualifications
    • Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
    • Minimum 1 year of dispatch operations experience within the transportation industry or equivalent experience.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt and multitask in fast paced environment
    • A customer service-oriented mentality with attention to detail
    • perferred not required; A valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
      Experience Preferred:
      • Driving experience with Transdev preferred
      • Previous experience with radio dispatch preferred or road supervision preferred
      • Some public transit experience perferred
        Skills and Knowledge Required:
        • Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changes
        • Knowledge of city street systems, peak traffic times and locations, and effects of weather on street conditions
        • Ability to read, comprehend and understand a map
        • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes
        • General knowledge of the methods of operating two-way communications equipment and proper radio procedures, and ability to communicate via radio or communications system or ability to learn new systems
        • Strong written and oral communication skills
        • Ability to remain calm and organized in emergency and complex transit operation problems
        • Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently
        • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups
          Travel requirement (as a percent): Pre-Employment Requirements:
          • Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check
          • Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card

            Physical Requirements:
            • Must be able to work varying shifts as needed.
            • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
            • Majority of work is accomplished in an office equipped with a telephone and computer.
            • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
