about!The Telecommunicator position plays a key role in the
operations in and around the terminal and airport campus. The
Telecommunicator coordinates routine and emergency responses to
commercial, general aviation, cargo aircraft, medical, fire,
police, maintenance, and operations situations in and around the
terminal and airport campus on assigned shifts on a 24/7 basis.
This position works alongside a team of skilled Telecommunicators
reporting to the Telecommunications Supervisor.ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a
representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities
performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to
perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented
in this description.Provides efficient response to emergency and
non-emergency calls for assistance concerning crimes, fires, rescue
needs, FAA flight information, maintenance, parking services, or
other general informationEffectively prioritizes and documents
calls for service to include location, jurisdiction, action, and
agency to dispatchOperates an 800 MHz radio system to contact Law
Enforcement, Emergency Services, Fire, Airport Operations, Traffic
Control, Information Services, Maintenance, FAA, Parking, and other
units; provides information about the situation in real time and
dispatches appropriate personnelOperates a computer-aided dispatch
system (CAD) to receive, review, and prioritize emergency and
non-emergency calls and requests for assistance from airport
employees, tenants, passengers, and government agencies, including
public and private entities. Takes appropriate action based on
established policies and proceduresResponds to requests from Law
Enforcement regarding, but not limited to vehicle registrations,
driver license statuses, criminal histories, outstanding
warrantsOperates terminal paging system to communicate with the
traveling publicMaintains communication logs and reportsMonitors
public assistance telephones; assists with the location of vehicles
and assists with security concernsMonitors alarm monitoring systems
and Closes Circuit Television (CCTV) systemsPerform related work as
requiredMinimum Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or
equivalency (some college preferred)Experience:6 months - 2 years
dispatching experience; 911 or Emergency Call Center experience
preferredRequired Licenses or Certifications:Division of Criminal
Information (DCI) Certification preferred or willing to obtain
certification within 4 months after hireHourly Hiring Range:Minimum
$18.30 to Maximum - Commensurate with experienceCOMPETENCIES FOR
