Correctional Training Specialist - Wake County

*\*\*This position is currently located within the Department of
Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult
Correction (DAC) when it is established on January 1st,
Reporting to the Administrative Officer III, this position is
responsible for all training of certified and non-certified staff
to ensure compliance with policy at a multi custody female
correctional facility. This position's responsibilities include,
but are not limited to, the following:
Ensuring that specialized training is coordinated and policy
requirements are met.
* Conducting new employee orientation to ensure newly hired staff
are educated on policies and procedures.
* Instructing various general and specialized training and
maintaining instructor certifications as defined by policies and
the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards
* Scheduling instructors for classes to ensure training
requirements are met.
* Preparing and teaching classes in the absence of scheduled
* Entering records from Office of Staff Development and Training
(OSDT) into Offender Population Unified System (OPUS) and
maintaining training records as required policies.

The salary grade for this position is *NC05** *(Salary Range:
*$31,200 - $54,101*). State employees are encouraged to apply for

lower than, their current position. If selected for this position,
a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the
quantity of relevant education and experience, funding
availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay
increase MAY result.

North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, in Raleigh, is
the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the
largest offender population in the state and serves as the support
facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style
facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in
southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and
control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium,
minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical,

of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders
undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine
