SMT, Inc . is a sheet metal manufacturing company that has been in
business since 1969. We offer a stable work environment supported
by a strong management team. We are seeking talented individuals
with a strong work ethic to be part of our growing team. We are
currently looking for talented Welders to join our team on 2nd
shift. Training would involve working several weeks on 1st shift
before transitioning to 2nd shift. 1st Shift standard hours are
7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mon-Fri (some overtime on Saturday and
before/after standard hours). 2nd Shift standard hours are 3:00
p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Mon-Thur (some overtime on Friday and after
standard hours). Summary of Duties and Responsibilities - Welder
Layout, fit and weld metal parts according to specifications,
producing sub-assemblies or assemblies. Primary Duties and
Responsibilities
- Follow and comply with all company policies and
procedures.
- Interprets blueprints and sketches of varying complexity to
determine layout and process necessary in assembly of ferrous and
non-ferrous materials.
- Sets up various welding, grinding, and cutting equipment to
accomplish assigned tasks.
- Fixtures, assembles and prepares various parts to be joined and
secures them according to specifications.
- Works independently to assemble and join sub-assemblies and
assemblies to conform to blueprints and drawings.
- Inspects and tests work to ensure compliance to
requirements.
- Fills out all required production paperwork and records.
- Maintains work area in clean and safe condition.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Requires minimum of 3
years welding experience in MIG and/or TIG. Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities
- Must be able to read complex blueprints and perform complex
mathematical calculations.
- Advanced knowledge of various welding equipment, grinding
equipment and hand tools including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers.
Ability to use basic quality inspection equipment including
calipers and micrometers.
- Position requires employee to complete OSHA Respiratory
Protection Medical Questionnaire Form and evaluated for pulmonary
fitness. Both proper training for respirator use and respirator fit
tested must be completed prior to first day of employment. Working
Conditions
- Constant exposure to one or more elements typically found in a
manufacturing setting such as noise, dust, heat, fumes or dirt,
which may not be desirable. In some areas, exposure to hazards may
require the use of personal protective equipment including weld
shields or helmets. Supervision
- None Decision-Making / Confidentiality
- Requires continuous mental / visual application. Moderate level
of independent judgement and decision making within Company
policies to resolve operational problems and to determine
manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Limited exposure to confidential data such as product design
information and work center rates. A written and physical weld test
will be given to all candidates selected for an in-person
