What You'll Be Doing Wake County Economic and Social Services provides services such as Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), Family and Children's Medicaid (FCMA), Adult Medicaid (AMA), Work First (WF) and Child Care Subsidy (CCS). Program and Staff Development is a Division within Economic Services and consists of the following units: NC Fast On-Site Support, Trainers, Quality Control, Hearings and Appeals, Onboarding and IT Security. We are seeking a Program Assistant to join our team! The Program Assistant provides programmatic support for the Program and Staff Development team within the Economic and Social Services Division. The primary duties include, facilitating and coordinating the Local and State Hearings and Appeals process, assisting with security officer duties, onboarding new hires, and providing support during audits and monitoring visits. Essential functions include the following: * Scheduling conference rooms and creating the monthly hearing rotation calendar * Swearing in clients * Submitting decision letters, creating hearing packets and faxing them to the state * Updating a Lotus Notes database with information about hearings * Troubleshooting cases to determine root cause of issues and tracking statistics * Training employees on the hearing and appeals process and preparing for training classes; and providing assistance in developing training aids as needed * Acting as a liaison with other program areas, departments or agencies to ensure effective integration and distribution of information * Investigating and resolving complaints and drafts correspondence and reports NOTE: Wake County Health and Human Services employees are required to be in their current role for a minimum of one (1) year to be eligible to apply for another Human Services position. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) * Associate's degree in Business Administration, Office Administration or related field * One (1) year of experience providing administrative support * Equivalent education or experience is accepted Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) * Two years (2) or more of experience working within a State or County Department of Social Services providing support to Economic Assistance Programs * Experience facilitating the Hearings and Appeals process * Experience in a legal, judicial or government environment * Bachelor's degree * Strong experience with business writing and verbal communication, Microsoft Office Suite * Ability to excel in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment * A notary is preferred but not required How Will We Know You're 'The One'? * Caseworker with program policy knowledge in FNS, FCMA, AMA, WF, Child Care Subsidy or Energy * Excellent organizational skills * Ability to plan ahead and ensure deadlines are met on time * Excellent communication skills verbal and written * Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and proficient using a PC * Exceptional time management skills * Experience onboarding new hires * Knowledge with processing help desk tickets * Must be a team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and accountable for the outcome of your work About This Position Location: Human Services Center Somerset Raleigh, NC 27609 Employment Type: Regular Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00 am -5:00 pm Hiring Range: $17.49 - $23.60 commensurate with education and experience Posting Closing Date: 7:00 pm on 11/26/2021 What Makes Wake Great Home to the State Capital, Wake County is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation and the most populous county in the state, with more than 1.1 million residents.
