Senior Director, Enterprise Data Governance

The candidate will primarily work virtually from a home-office
with occasional in-person meetings as necessary. Preference for
candidate to be in the Mid-Atlantic states (NC, SC, VA).
The Sr. Director, Enterprise Data Governance will establish and
ensure adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for
data policies, standards, and practices to achieve the required
level of consistency, quality, and protection to meet overall
American Red Cross needs. Monitor the use of data to ensure careful
control and effective use to achieve enterprise objectives. Develop
the enterprise data governance program and ensure adoption through
engagement with and identification of data owners and stewards and
senior leaders across the organization. This includes chairmanship
of the Data Governance Council, oversight of the data governance
team budget, the training and education of stakeholders of the
organization concerning data governance and data stewardship.
Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all
volunteers. Manage a team including, hiring, training, coaching,
evaluating, and managing performance. Manage resource allocations
and coordinate staff assignments. This position reports into the
Enterprise Data VP.
• Provide strategic direction and planning for data governance
• Collaborate with business unit leaders and key stakeholders to
advocate support for and partnership in the development and
implementation of policies, standards, and the framework for data
governance as well as identify and build a taxonomy of key data
• Create governance surrounding data management through education,
engagement, and alignment with data stakeholders across business
• Design, develop and maintain enterprise-wide data governance
metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data governance
program. Ensure that metrics include appropriate benchmarks to
legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Continually evaluate the
accuracy and effectiveness of the metrics.
• Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and
ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company's
principal information assets.
• Implement and maintain a data governance organizational structure
and supporting governance solutions that promote better
decision-making, operational efficiencies, data quality, and

access and security, data risk management, and data valuation.
• Serves as a business consultant on client business problems,
identifies data needs and formulates data solutions, creates
practical development roadmaps, and presents recommendations to
stakeholders at all levels of the business.

• Experience: Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent

Travel: Travel may be required. (10-25%) primarily between
Washington, DC and North Carolina.
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on
work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient
to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and
manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20
pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger
dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a
keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall
mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of
time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging
Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some
potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to
emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in
meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and
Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response
organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during
period of major disaster.

for this position is: $175K +/- annual salary. Note that the
American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific
geographic location in which the job or employee resides. The
