Candidate Specification

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years' experience (2 Years with a Masters in a related field)
  • PE preferred
  • Some protection & control background w/ renewable applications is a plus
  • Experience in design engineering for commercial and utility scale renewable e.g. solar/wind systems, including the interconnection design at primary distribution voltages
  • Experience working with ISO and developers is a plus
  • Strong general electrical engineering knowledge, with multi-disciplined working knowledge in areas of relay, physical, civil, etc.
  • Good knowledge of NEC and/or NESC
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • This position can be based in any of our energy offices including: Westwood, Charlotte, Plymouth, Raleigh and The Woodlands.

Job Description

Our clients have access to the extensive resources of one of the world's leading engineering consultancies through our team of power delivery specialists. We're always looking to expand our teams and are looking to welcome an Electrical engineer to help us deliver on our diverse portfolio of interesting projects. Candidate can expect to work on large offshore wind projects, ISO's, utilities, and other conventional renewable onshore projects. In this role, you will coordinate various technical disciplines and other internal as well as external stakeholders to deliver on these projects as a technical lead and facilitator.

As an Electrical engineer with Mott MacDonald's power delivery team, your duties will include:

  • Front-End Engineering and cost estimation for power generating plants and interconnection facilities
  • Development and testing of load flow, short circuit, and dynamics models
  • Review and refinement of transmission and distribution planning studies
  • Negotiation of interconnection agreements and upgrade requirements
  • Development of automation tools to improve duplicative functions
  • Mentoring and directing the work of designers, juniors and CAD drafters on assigned projects.
  • Providing first-level QA/QC oversight for their portion of work as such.
  • Support company's goals and represent the company, positively and professionally.
  • Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
