Health Services (SHS) is to provide appropriate, affordable,
accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible
students, and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health
promotion program in the NC State University community.The major
function of the SHS is that of providing outpatient care to the
34,000+ NC State students. Some level of medical care is available
24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year beginning in
August and ending in May. Hours of service vary during the summer
and during holidays and student breaks.All of our staff members

values.Essential Job Duties:Primary duties of the appointment
coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responding in a prompt, pleasant, and professional manner to
phone and in-person request for appointments.
- Maximizing appointment availability through use of effective
scheduling methods and use of written and staff resources.
- Revising provider schedules.
- As assigned, assisting at reception as needed, assisting at
Gynecology Services and Centennial Reception as needed.
- Fielding telephone calls, providing chart delivery, conducting
chart/ Health Form searches, assisting with appointment
preparation, scanning, filing, and all other Med Rec related
- Supporting immunization coordinator functions.
- Assisting with special projects as needed or as motivated.Other
- Good attendance and being available to start work-day at
appointed time is an expectation due to the nature of the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Minimum
Experience/Education:High School Diploma or equivalency; or
demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform
the work.Other Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills including the ability to
communicate with a diverse population of students, staff, faculty,
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to understand and apply features of a variety of
software programs, including the EMR, fax, e-fax, digital phone,
calculator, copier and web-based databases to produce and manage
workflows essential to the position.
- Good problem solving skills including the ability to apply
judgment for problem resolutions based on delegated authority from
manager and/or according to established procedures and
- At least one year of medical office support experience.
- Experience using EMRs and Practice Management Systems.
- Proficient with computers and knowledge of EMR/Electronic
- Professional experience in a college/university
