The Professor and Director of Analytics Engagement is a key
leadership role within the Department of Econometrics and Business
Statistics (EBS) which forms part of the Faculty of Business and
Economics. The department is recognised worldwide for the quality
of its research and teaching. A defining characteristic of the
research conducted by the Department is the development of
cutting-edge new methodology and theoretical results in statistics
and econometrics, and the translation of new methodology into open
As a testament to the quality of the Department's research
output, Monash was given the highest possible rating (5) in
Econometrics in the 2012, 2015 and 2018 Excellence in Research for
Australia assessments conducted by the Australian Research Council
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Professor and Director
of Analytics Engagement is responsible for overseeing the
department’s research translation and impact goals, contract
research, and graduate student internships. Academic staff and
postgraduate research students within EBS undertake research which
has the potential for impact in a diverse range of industries and
businesses. The impact of our research is an important contributor
to our reputation.
The position will also work closely with colleagues in the
Enterprise Portfolio to create aligned and collaborative engagement
and research translation strategies consistent with the goals of
the Faculty and the broader university.
The successful candidate will have outstanding scholarly
activity in statistics, machine learning, econometrics, or
actuarial studies with a PhD in analytics or computational
statistics, extensive experience in engagement with business and
industry, and the ability to teach into the Masters in Business
Analytics which is built around open source software and data. You
will have a track record of success in generating research income
from traditional and innovative sources and excellent relationships
with industry, business and government agencies to open doors for
future opportunities and collaborations.
