The challenge Extreme Networks has expanded its portfolio with the acquisitions of Avaya, Brocade and Zebra (Motorola). Because of this growth, Extreme has created a new Program Management Organization responsible to the development and implementation of a cross functional Life Cycle Model capable of managing over a billion dollars of annual revenue. Reporting into E-Staff, the organization is expected to be the "agent of change" helping Extreme upgrade its overall business processes. It's like working at a start-up on steroids. If you are looking for an engaging "in the spotlight" type of role, Extreme is the place for you. Responsibility will be an 80/20 split between managing Extreme's portfolio and dedicated focus on Life Cycle Model Initiatives. You will need to bring a wide range of experience ? technical, process, business and strategic. Understanding the impact of various tactical decisions on the short-term and long-term viability of your portfolio is a must. You must see the big picture and provide guidance and influence up, down and side-ways to keep the business aligned to the strategic direction of the company. You are a neutral party in the discussions, aligning with the customer experience as oppose to any one internal organization. Being above politics, you are relied on to hold organizations and individuals accountable. Your toolbox should contain a variety of techniques for influencing which you skillfully wield to achieve the best possible outcome. Qualifications/Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities: * New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Manager (80%) o Architecting new Life Cycle Model for Application development. o Leverage Extreme's existing Life Cycle Model processes to manage & drive New Product Introduction (NPI) programs by effectively coordinating with cross-functional program related activities. o Use knowledge, creativity, and company practices and priorities to obtain solutions to complex problems. o Maintain overarching master program schedule that consolidates individual project deliverables, reflects cross-track dependencies, and eliminates redundancies among the tracks. o Manage program risks and drive issue resolution as it relates to meeting the overall schedule, quality commitments and impacts to the customer experience, strategic and business goals. o Coordinate activities and communication among functional teams: weekly core team meetings, executive status and governance as required to support the program. o Track program progress and provide communications at all levels. Be the singular source of truth. o Manage various corporate decision point meetings associated with an assigned business segment. o Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile (Scrum) development process o Provide true senior leadership, not facilitate. * Strategic Initiatives (20%) o Proven ability to drive corporate initiatives associated with improving business processes. Identifying Gaps in Extreme Business process and help drive process solutions within a growing company Ability to provide leadership and ownership for initiatives that are undertaken Ability to educate impacted personnel on new process. Ability to analyze and design an initiative to solve a problem, measuring, tracking and adjusting the initiative to maximize its effectiveness. Be the resident expert when it comes to this facet. Interpersonal skills: * Solid leadership skills o Ability to establish trust and confidence of cross-functional core team. o Ability to lead the team of individual contributors, work with peer managers, and work with executives all at the same time and all equally. o Provides vision and guidance: Ability to distinguish critical from non-critical issues and sets teams focus and priorities accordingly. o Quickly recognizes challenges facing the team and works toward resolving and achieving results despite those challenges. o Ability to break down issues to key fundamentals and drive team toward corrective action plan. o Ability to inspire team to act on behalf of the program instead of personal interests. Bring out the best in everyone on the team. o Ability to establish productive relationships with each member of the team with an understanding of everyone's motivations and priorities that factor into the decision process. o Ability to drive a positive outlook in the face of adversity and does not back down from a challenge but not in an overly aggressive manner. o Ability to create and use governance structure to hold organizations accountable to the Plan of Record o Ability to organize cross-functional activities into a complete program plan of record, recognizing interdependencies, and establishing framework for the team to build out the plan and mentoring the execution of that plan. o Ability to influence subordinates, peers and executives to the best possible outcome by building solid relationships. Ability to manage up, down and sideways * Excellent verbal and communications skills o Ability to communicate in a concise and deliberate fashion. o Recognizes the audience of the communication and organizes and factors in appropriate content accordingly. Being that communication goes down, up or sideways. o Ability to recognize sensitive or confidential information and shares information appropriately. o Experience in presenting to large groups and executives. Displays knowledge and confidence in presentation content. o Facilitating communication in meeting and offline. * Character and Integrity o Defines and communicates actions and follows through to meet commitments. "Say what they do and do what they say" o Provides open and honest assessments with company and organizational success rather than personal success as the basis. o Ability to manage through "politics" to achieve the desired result. o Serves as a resource to other team members, helping to achieve broader organizational success. o Providing Vision and Guidance Mentoring team members for success Education and Experience Requirements: * B.S. College graduate (Degree in Engineering or Industrial (Process) Engineering, Master in Business a plus) or equivalent industry experience. * Candidate must have 10 years' direct program management experience. * Knowledge of Life Cycle Management (Waterfall and SCRUM), Project Management, and Program Management * Qualified candidate must have solid skills using MS applications (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) and knowledge of SharePoint application * Excellent communications skills are required (verbal/phone and written/email/web). * Strong presentation skills; ability to present to all levels of the company * Candidate must have an ability to participate in multiple cross-functional projects concurrently in a rapidly changing environment, within established time lines and have a demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new and changing technologies. * Understands basic revenue models a plus (i.e.: P&L) * Understands basic market dynamics (TAMs, Addressable TAMs, competitive analysis) etc. Additional Skills * Technical background or awareness of networking. Ability to interact technically with cross functional program team. Knowledge of network design, topologies, basic architectures, and L2/L3 protocols. * Ability to coordinate global teams (local and offsite team members). * Ability to build consensus and keep team aware of impending deliverables. * High level knowledge of Software, Hardware and Operation design processes within a concept to end-of-life model. * PMP certification is a plus * Some domestic travel required -5-10% * Position is based at our RDU office (in Research Triangle Park, NC area) and not budgeted for relocation.
