New Relic is looking for an experienced software engineer and technical leader to join our Proactive Monitoring team. The members of this team design, build, and operate the Error Tracking, Synthetics, and Deployments product features of the New Relic suite. If you're ready for this job, you've spent years (decades?) crafting high-availability, high-scale, production systems. You had plenty of front-line experience in the past, but now you're more interested in how complex systems work together to deliver value to our customers. You've made mistakes (probably lots of them) and learned from them. You've also been a part of great successes where you've kept the customer front-and-center in your designs. What You'll Do Our Lead Software Engineers guide the design, construction, documentation, maintenance, and scale of our high performance back-end streaming, scheduling, and job runner systems as well as the customer-facing UI and API's and accompanying middleware (we are a full-stack team!). They are hands on in the code and utilize their knowledge and skills to help their teams bake automation, quality, reliability, scalability, and simplicity into everything they do. We hire excellent engineers and you will guide them utilizing modern DevOps and SRE practices. They lead by example, and work closely with engineering management, product management, technical support, and design to build the right features and ensure our customers understand their digital business. We have a globally distributed development organization with teams spanning a nine-hour swath of timezones. The only way to keep all those teams in sync is through written communications. Your Qualifications Must-have:

• 7+ years of technical leadership with robust engineering teams using modern object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, or C++.
• Intimate knowledge of full-stack software engineering principles
• Experience building and operating highly-scalable distributed systems that are fault-tolerant
• Collaborative and able to successfully navigate multi-functional teams within the organization Nice-to-have:
  • An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a STEM field
  • Experience with Selenium or Puppeteer a plus
  • Experience with a common RDBMS a plus (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS EC2, SQS, S3, ElastiCache, ElasticSearch, KMS, and/or Kafka a plus
