Job Description Job Description Description: OVERVIEW: Licensed
Practical Nurses (LPN’s) fill the role in hospital and clinical
settings. The primary job duties are to provide health care,
observe patients’ health, assist doctors and registered nurses, can
communicate instruction to patients regarding medication,
home-based care, and preventive lifestyle changes. ESSENTIAL JOB
DUTIES: Obtains and documents healthy history, information on chief
complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses
disease conditions Providers patient care based on practice
guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state law and
regulations Executes prescribed treatment and medical
interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and
documents treatment progress and patient response Documents patient
assessment and intervention data using established medical record
forms/automated systems and documentation practices Knowledge of
professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices to give and
evaluate patient care Nursing processes; health care systems,
structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of
health care technology, equipment, and supplies Familiarity with
state law on licensed nursing care, nursing practice guidelines,
and clinic policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Providing the basic bedside care
like dressing wounds, changing bandages, inserting catheters, and
giving injections Taking patient’s vital signs such as respiration,
temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate Enter data related to
the record of the patient into the EMR Interview patients and
examine their medical history Regulate vaccinations and injections
Educate patients to avoid an unhealthy lifestyle Inform patient of
doctor’s orders or test results via mail or phone call Assist
registered nurse and other superior nurses to develop best course
of action for the patient Help the patient understand documentation
and paperwork Inform the patient about their present problems,
allergies, medications, and keeping their medical records up to
date Accomplished the patient’s immunizations, visual acuity
testing, nebulizer treatment, and regulate TB test Talk to the
patient and family members about a treatment plan once the patient
leaves the hospital Assists in IV set-up: validate solution to be
regulated, analyzing infusion site, keep track of IV function and
patient comfort, and terminate IV at the appropriate time, as
ordered by Medical Staff Undertakes various office responsibility;
answer phone calls, replying to messages, execute triage within the
scope of LPN Keeping track of the eating habits of the patients and
knowledge of usage of the washroom Knowledge of professional
nursing theory, regulations, and practices to give and evaluate
patient care Nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and
functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care
technology, equipment, and supplies Familiarity with state law on
nursing care, nursing practice guidelines, and clinic policies and
procedures Chart/medical record documentation requirements and
federal/state law related to release to release of health care
information Perform any other duties that may be necessary for the
operation of the corporation and/or hospital Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Two plus years nursing experience Current LPN license in North
Carolina PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent mobility and/or sitting
required for extended periods of time Manual dexterity and use of a
calculator or computer keyboard. Varied activities including
standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting Occasionally lifts to
50 pounds Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular
hours Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances,
ionization radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions
common to a hospital and/or clinic environment
