Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an
experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a compact or
NC license, with strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities - Work in a 10-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within an
academic Level 1 trauma center - Cares for renal and pancreatic
transplant patients, gynecological oncology, surgical oncology,
urology, colorectal, and bariatric surgery cases - Average census
is 8 patients per shift - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5; CNA
ratio is 1:10 - Night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM - Every other
weekend required - Float within the cancer center first, then to
any med-surg unit within the hospital, with emergency-only floating
to up to five facilities - No on-call or call-back requirements -
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Philips
monitors, and ON-Q pumps - Responsibilities include direct patient
care for complex surgical and medical diagnoses, proficiency with
telemetry, and advanced nursing procedures - Team-oriented unit
culture emphasizing flexibility and support; 'No man left behind'
philosophy - Night shift supported by experienced resource nurses,
CNAs, and 24/7 respiratory therapy - Free on-site parking provided
- Department dress code requires royal blue scrubs - Travelers are
expected to work 75% of holidays - Comprehensive orientation
includes new employee onboarding and one-day departmental training
- First-time travelers may be considered based on level of
experience Requirements - Active NC or compact RN license - Minimum
2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele (MST) nursing experience - Current
BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS required if assigned to
Resource Team - Strong assessment, communication, and critical
thinking skills are necessary - Experience in trach care, chest
tube management, PIV starts, PCA, surgical drains, and management
of specific drips including Rituxan, thymoglobulin, and neostigmine
