Job Description:
Summary:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the environmental,
health, and safety program for the Southwire Company Tools,
Components & Assembled Products Distribution division locations in
te East Region. Provides regulatory expertise to ensure regulatory
requirements applicable to the facilities are known. Plans,
organizes, and implements environmental, health, and safety
activities at the facilities and assists in monitoring all facility
activities to ensure that regulatory requirements are met.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
--- Ensure all facility management staff and appropriate
operational personnel are knowledgeable of current and pending
regulatory requirements, permit conditions, and other restrictions
imposed by federal, state and local authorities.
--- Assist in creating processes that identify, evaluate, and
control hazards in the workplace.
--- Manage the sites' environmental programs including, but not
limited to, permits, environmental samples, periodic
audits/inspections, and training.
--- Prepare and administer safety, environmental, occupational, and
health courses and training programs as required by regulations and
site specific risk/opportunities.
--- Implement and maintain required compliance programs/processes
along with required documentation.
--- Assist in the development and implementation of
corporate/location environmental, health & safety initiatives.
--- Assist in continual improvement activities and participation in
engagement activities.
--- Participate and lead incident investigation and root cause
analysis as required.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
--- Bachelor's Degree in safety, environmental, engineering
discipline or other related field required.
--- Experience working in environmental and safety in general
industry and/or construction is preferred (2-5 yrs).
--- Requires knowledge of General Industry standards, to include
ergonomics, machine guarding, electrical hazards, LOTO, etc.
--- Ability to effectively work with people at all levels of the
organization and effectively communicate both orally and
written.
--- Skilled at managing multiple projects at once and providing
feedback to managers.
--- Adept at resolving complex problems encountered in a fast-paced
manufacturing & distribution environments
--- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
--- Ability to work non-traditional hours or shifts.
--- Must be capable of long walks over rough terrain and climbing
ladders to elevated locations.
--- Professional certification in safety and/or environmental is
desired.
--- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
