Job Description:
This position is full-time temporary, with an estimated 18-month
engagement.--We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and curious
Special Projects Director to assist with leading and executing a
comprehensive statewide strategic planning process for the state's
number one industry,--agriculture and agribusiness. This role
requires an eager professional with experience in understanding the
breadth and depth of North Carolina's agriculture sector,
familiarity with the basic tenants of strategic planning,
capabilities in project management and the performance of
administrative tasks relevant to preparation of the strategic plan,
and the ability to work well with a wide array of stakeholders in a
fast-paced and mission-driven setting.--The Special Projects
Director will collaborate closely with industry stakeholders,
government agencies, and experts to develop and implement
strategies that will drive the growth and sustainability of the
agriculture industry within the state in the coming years.--This
position will require a commitment and focus on adaptability,
innovation, and teamwork across multiple departments within the
organization. The Director will need to remain current in their
subject matter and demonstrate expert knowledge in the field that
ensures that they will be sought after for advice. They will also
make ongoing, significant contributions toward achieving team and
organizational goals. Finally, notwithstanding that this individual
will focus primarily on the strategic planning process, they may
also perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel or
CEO.--ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES--Strategic
Leadership:Assist the General Counsel in leading the development
and execution of a comprehensive statewide strategic plan for the
agriculture industry, aligning with the industry's goals and the
state's economic priorities.Provide visionary leadership to ensure
that the strategic plan addresses current challenges and
anticipates future trends, demands, and opportunities.--Stakeholder
Engagement:Assist with the development of a feedback process that
includes a cross-sectional selection of industry representatives.
Arrange meetings, both electronically and in-person, to allow for
the General Counsel and other project managers to participate in
interviews, listening sessions, focus groups, and polling of these
representatives. Outreach will include direct contact and
logistical collaboration with agricultural industry leaders,
farmers and agribusiness owners, researchers, government officials,
and other relevant stakeholders.Build and nurture strong
relationships with stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach
to the strategic planning process.--Data Analysis and
Research:Conduct thorough research and analysis of the agriculture
industry's current state, including market trends, technological
advancements, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape.Utilize
data-driven insights to support and instruct the development of
strategic initiatives and goals.Synthesize, categorize, and
summarize key feedback from industry stakeholders so that project
leaders may draw conclusions from that feedback or other data
accumulated during the course of the project.--Strategic Plan
Development:Translate research findings and stakeholder input into
actionable strategic initiatives, objectives, and performance
metrics.Develop a detailed implementation plan, outlining
timelines, resource requirements, and responsible parties for each
initiative.Identify opportunities for innovation and adaptation
within the agriculture industry, integrating cutting-edge
technologies and practices into the strategic plan.Continuously
assess and refine the strategic plan based on feedback, changing
circumstances, and emerging trends.--Project and Event
Management:Assist with overseeing the execution of the strategic
plan, coordinating with cross-functional teams, external partners,
and relevant agencies.Monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and
proactively address challenges to ensure the successful
implementation of initiatives.Assist with designing events and
meetings designed to further the goals of the
project.--Communication and Reporting:Assist the communications
team and General Counsel in communicating the progress,
achievements, and challenges of the strategic plan; such
communication may be directed to relevant stakeholders, government
bodies, and the public.Prepare comprehensive reports and
presentations that convey the impact and outcomes of the
plan.Support the communications team and General Counsel in the
outreach efforts each of them undertake, including public speaking
opportunities regarding the project and project progress, media
engagement, and social media curation.Serve as a liaison with the
NC Ag Leads strategic plan sponsor, a nationally-recognized,
in-state non-profit. This responsibility will include the
preparation of documentation or contract deliverables required by
the sponsor.--Overall:Advocate in support of NC Chamber's overall
agenda and respect and adhere to the organization's
values.Collaborate across the organization with key internal
partners to develop and drive effective strategies.Position and
leverage the organization and its leadership to impact public
policy and initiatives.Analyze public policy issues and
successfully execute legislative solutions.Cultivate and maintain
your relationships with thought leaders in government and trade
associations.Engage with industry and government contacts (virtual
and/or in-person as required).Manage consultants and support
special projects to further NC Chamber's advocacy
efforts.--SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:Demonstrated ability to use
communications and stories to inspire, motivate and influence
others. Will communicate concisely, with composure and confidence,
and in an engaging manner.Proactively seek out leadership for
significant project opportunities.A strategic end-to-end view when
organizing and planning work or initiatives; able to deliver
exceptional results and outcomes, including by managing or
influencing through others.Find ways to ask insightful questions in
creating or shaping solutions. Challenge existing approaches and
enlist others in new thinking.Have experience successfully
navigating a changing environment and championing new projects that
shape the future.A mastery of both written and oral communications
with the goal to provide concise, clear messaging to persuade
audiences, especially at the executive level.Bring a
solutions-based approach when working with stakeholders and
prospects, understanding the need to be able to deliver unique
solutions to challenging business problems.--TRAVELFrequent travel
is required.--EXPERIENCE REQUIREDTwo to five years of experience in
a similar project lead/government advocacy role.Demonstrated
interest/experience in agriculture/agribusiness.--EDUCATION
