About the Role

We are searching for a hands-on team leader, ideally with a background as a SaaS engineering manager in a peak performance organization, with experience in CI/CD, and Quality or DevOps automation, passionate about open source, developer tools, and shipping high quality software, to help take our products to the next level. You'll be responsible for products that deliver software with better quality, faster. Startup and enterprise software product company experience is a plus.

• Manage release automation teams across two established CloudBees products
• Manage Performance & Scale testing teams.
• Generate and implement process improvements, especially cross-team processes.
• Establish best practices for dogfooding and practicing continuous delivering using CloudBees products
• Help define the team's road map and author project plans to deliver against that roadmap.
• Draft team's quarterly OKR and manage the team's priorities.
• Drive improvements to test framework architecture and test coverage.
• Drive adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability and maintainability.
• Track test gaps, quality, and productivity metrics. Work with other engineering teams to improve gaps from this data.
• Recommend improvements into overall best practices, design, testability and quality and productivity.
• Recruit Engineers, grow the team and stay in step with the hiring plan.
• Help engineers grow their skills and experience.
• Hold regular 1:1's with all members of their team.
• Create a sense of psychological safety on their team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Give clear, timely, and actionable feedback.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members is required.
  • Technical credibility: experience as a Software Engineering Manager in SaaS (or similar title).
  • Experience with non-functional testing like performance, security, and chaos testing.
  • Develops in Golang or Java and has a proven ability to pick up a new language quickly.
  • Jenkins experience.
  • Works with UI & API test automation tools, particularly in Java stack (e.g. JMeter, Gatling, Selenium, API testing).
  • Works with Docker containers, Kubernetes, and/or Cloud providers (e.g. GCP, AWS).
  • Experience with Continuous Integration systems (e.g. Jenkins, Travis, GitLab).
  • Infrastructure debugging and problem-solving skills along with a drive to optimize build processes.
  • Database Administration experience.
  • Git administration experience.
  • A strong problem-solving ability for identifying and resolving issues that arise during the development and delivery of SaaS applications.
  • Defines high-level test automation strategy based on DevOps industry's best practices.
  • Drives organizational change with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Operates independently and ask questions when stuck
