The Opportunity -The Women's Center of Wake County has been an established and welcoming portal of entry for homeless women for over 44 years. By providing a safe, low-barrier, client-centered, and-trauma sensitive day center for women, those experiencing homelessness can begin the stabilization and healing process. -Through the years The Women's Center evolved in the ways it lives its mission. The next Executive Director of The Women's Center will be responsible for leading the organization to meet the needs of our community today and into the future, honoring its history, while casting a strategic vision that leads toward transformation in partnership with the community. The Executive Director must bring visionary leadership to all areas that focuses on serving at-risk women, while providing oversight of the organization's operations (managing a nearly $1M annual budget), culture, values, talent, and financial performance. - -Reporting to and working closely with the Board, the Executive Director will provide transparent leadership and proactive communication to enhance mission, strategy, and impact. The Executive Director will also manage, develop, and empower a team of 13 comprised of a four-person leadership team (including the Executive Director), 3 additional full-time staff, and 6 part-time staff. - -The Executive Director will build the reputation of The Women's Center and develop partnerships and collaborations throughout Wake County to meet the needs of women experiencing homelessness. They will also inspire donors, volunteers, and partners to invest deeply in The Women's Center's mission. - - -The Ideal Candidate Profile -The ideal candidate will have the following professional and personal expertise and attributes: -Connection to the Mission -Leading by example, the Executive Director will understand that at all times, compassion is an essential quality. The Executive Director will have a collaborative spirit and will be a dynamic leader who treats all with respect and individual value. The Executive Director will have a deep understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and implement these principles across the organization. They will also possess an intimate understanding of human service needs for women in our community including homelessness, mental health, abuse, and addiction. -Leader and Administrator -This individual will need to see the forest, inspire others to help plant trees, and have foresight in where they should be planted. The Executive Director will be highly strategic, setting priorities decisively and collaboratively, delegating responsibilities, ensuring accountability, and effectively allocating resources to ensure results. They will have experience creating a strategic plan, defining outcomes, and living it on an annual basis. The Executive Director will have experience running a financially sound organization, managing and operating a budget, and grant management. They will be skilled at listening to and learning from others with a deep belief in fostering a transparent, empowered, and productive organizational culture. They will have a passion for empowering and developing staff with a clear approach to expectations and accountability. The Executive Director will also know how to partner with and empower a Board to manage its fiduciary responsibilities and serve as ambassadors for The Women's Center. -Collaborator -The Executive Director will be an authentic ambassador and community builder. They will be experienced at building effective partnerships with other social service organizations and a wide range of stakeholders. They will have experience sitting at community and political tables to address needs, gaps, and reducing duplication of services. The leader will have a high level of emotional intelligence with a demonstrated ability to quickly build trust and credibility with the people in the community. - -Development Oriented -The Executive Director will have the skills to articulate the vision of The Women's Center that is compelling and attracts new and diverse supporters. This leader will have a track record of developing meaningful relationships with a variety of constituents and partners. They will have familiarity with a wide range of fundraising channels, including individual giving, organizational funding partners, and grants. The Executive Director will cultivate and grow relationships to strategically increase funding to ensure a consistent flow of revenue. They will have an inspirational and storytelling approach. As the lead external voice of the organization, the Executive Director will be able to work effectively with diverse populations and will be a recognized leader in the community. -
-About the Organization -The Women's Center of Wake County is dedicated to serving and assisting marginalized, at-risk and homeless women seeking to break the cycle of trauma, abuse, violence, and homelessness. The Women's Center is unique in that it is the only crisis intervention and assessment day center in Wake County serving at-risk and homeless women through a low barrier entry facility. - -The Women's Center meets women where they are in real time. All women who come receive an intake and then have access to case management and referrals to community services. They also receive critical basic needs such as meals, showers, hygiene items, laundry access, clothing, day storage, Wi-Fi, mail service, computer access, phone, and fax services. -Women come from tent communities, living out of cars, or having lost their place of shelter due to domestic violence, interpersonal violence, trauma, assault, eviction, escaping human trafficking, etc. The Women's Center works closely with local area hospitals, behavioral healthcare facilities, and the Raleigh Police Department, as patients that are discharged are often sent to The Women's Center to begin the healing process. -Want to know more?
