Job Summary: Reporting into the Head of Controls Execution Support, within the Central Risk & Controls Office (CRCO), the Strategy and Execution lead will be responsible for the successful implementation of strategic initiatives to support the Business Unit Risk and Control Officer (BURCO) organization. The individual will be responsible for managing a team working across all Lines of Defense as well as directly engaging control program owners to drive change to enhance risk mitigation in effective and efficient ways through appropriate BURCO engagement. Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop the strategic roadmap and define the target state view of the Strategy and Execution team. Create and manage the implementation and manage the ongoing execution responsibilities of the team.
  • Manage the existing book of work the team is supporting including:
    • Definition and ongoing management of the BURCO Roles/Responsibilities and standards to ensure completeness of activities by working with Second Line of Defense and First Line of Defense Program Owners. Determine appropriateness of activities and address necessary changes.
    • Establish and maintain a formal change management standard and process to support BURCO capacity and prioritization. Review and challenge new requests, requirements, or changes to existing BURCO responsibilities.
    • Develop BURCO performance assessment capabilities, skills and resourcing that directly correlate to the defined Roles/Responsibilities, including both qualitative and quantitative measures.
    • Buildout of the BURCO community to create a more formal structure and engagement model as well as an aggregate view of tools, templates, policy/procedures, career paths, guidance, quick cards etc... to support BURCOs in the execution upon their roles
    • Support the development of the appropriate risk and control steering groups and establishing governance / standards over risk and control forums at the BU level
    • Work closely with the other teams within the CRCO as a point of contact with the BURCO organization and provide meaningful input to programs being established that will impact the BURCO organization. Qualifications:
      • A BA/BS degree from a 4-year college
      • 10-15 years of Banking or Financial Services industry experience with 5-10 years of experience in Operational Risk (FLoD or SLoD)
      • Experience in building Operational Risk Control Programs such as RCSA, Third Party Risk Management, Business Continuity
      • Experience with large programs or projects including the following is desired:
      • Process re-design and/or development of governance frameworks, committees, policies, etc.
      • Fast turnaround, tight timelines, and/or crisis management environments
      • Experience in interaction with regulators and remediating regulatory issues
      • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in writing and verbally with all levels.
      • Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
      • Ability to quickly build rapport, credibility, trust, and respect, and be viewed as a standout colleague.
