Job Description Job Description Experience: 2 - 4 Years Location: Mebane, North Carolina Mandatory Requirement: Plastics Manufacturing Maintenance Experience 25 years of preventive and corrective maintenance in at least one of the following processes: Plastic Injection Molding Inline Sheet Extrusion Inline Thermoforming EPP / EPS shape molding Strong mechanical understanding of how these systems integrate with robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and controls. Develops and follows maintenance checklists and SOPs for consistent performance. Hands-on use of lathes, grinders, drill presses, welders, and torches for part fabrication or repair. Ability to assemble and install pipe systems, valves, and pneumatic/hydraulic lines. Competent with precision measurement tools and part inspection techniques. Ability to communicate and write in English. Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of all production equipment by performing preventive and corrective maintenance . This role supports manufacturing operations through equipment installation, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement activities under the direction of the Senior Maintenance Technician Supervisor. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Troubleshooting Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and support equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic failures. Observe, inspect, test, and measure machinery to identify root causes of breakdowns. Repair or replace defective components and return equipment to proper operation. Install new equipment and verify correct functionality. Equipment Technical Work Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment including robots and PLC-controlled systems. Read and interpret blueprints, ladder logic, and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and welding equipment. Use forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, hoists, chains, and slings to move or position equipment. Documentation CMMS Accurately document all maintenance activities and repairs in the CMMS system. Ensure tools, materials, parts, and work areas are properly maintained and organized. Safety, Quality Teamwork Follow all safety policies, wear required PPE, and report unsafe conditions immediately. Participate in safety meetings and support a strong safety culture. Work effectively as part of a team, supporting production and maintenance objectives. Take ownership of assigned work, communicate job status, and meet quality standards. Demonstrate company core values: Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service . Additional Responsibilities Use PLCs to troubleshoot logic/control issues and upload/download programs as required. Verify machine or robot setup and manually operate equipment to confirm repairs. Mentor and support Level I Maintenance Technicians. Identify and report potential equipment failures or safety risks. Assist in developing preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and checklists. Maintain and improve technical skills through training, courses, or workshops. Coordinate with vendors as needed. Work overtime or flexible schedules based on business needs. Required Qualifications 2- or 4-year technical diploma/certificate OR equivalent experience (510 years). 25 years of maintenance experience in plastics manufacturing, including one or more of: Injection molding Inline sheet extrusion Inline thermoforming EPP / EPS shape molding Strong ability to read mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics. Good written and verbal communication skills. Solid problem-solving and basic math skills. Ability to safely learn and operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. Preferred Qualifications Experience with: Haitian (2 3 platen) or JSW injection molding machines Star robots Lyle inline thermoforming systems Davis-Standard sheet extrusion lines Akkaya EPP/EPS shape molding machines Universal Dynamics (Una-Dyn) or Novatec material handling equipment Certified or experienced equipment operator (forklift, scissor lift, boom lift). Strong attention to detail and reliability.
