OCED is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $20B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interest in large-scale clean energy demonstration projects, particularly in renewable systems, carbon capture and removal, hydrogen, and nuclear energy technologies.
Senior Technologist (Engineer/Scientist) must possess at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, in such fields as one of the engineering disciplines, preferably solar engineering, electrical engineering, physical sciences, structural engineering, engineering mechanics, or other related field.

  Individual must have 8-12 years of experience and be a recognized industry leader in the energy generation technology or a closely related technology, recognized authority on industry standards and quality management principles, and demonstrate a strong track-record of professional experience in innovative energy technology assessment and development for banks or other financial institutions.

  Individual must demonstrate experience in evaluating the reliability and performance of energy systems, including an understanding of probabilistic and statistical methods related to risk assessments, fault tree analysis, failure mode and effects analysis as these techniques relate to operational reliability and safety and provides thought leadership related to current and future plans with regard to the stated discipline.

    A professional engineering license and additional degrees at the masters or doctoral level are preferred.

    Requires a bachelor's degree plus 12 years of experience or a master's degree plus 8 years of experience.

    Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
    
    
  • 
    Clean Energy experience desired but not required.
    
    
  • 
    Remote position on eastern time zone.
    
    
  • 
    Experience in DOE environment is preferred.

    Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.--- Work is mostly sedentary in nature but will require periodic standing and walking and lifting.--- Must have good vision and be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
