Job Description:
Junior High Voltage Breaker Field Service Engineer supports the
installed base of high voltage power circuit breakers used in the
utility and heavy industrial applications. Position is entry level
and will be mentored / partnered with experienced field service
engineers during a training period. This will provide instruction
on the product as well as hands-on approach to the proper
installation, maintenance, and repair methods of high voltage
circuit breakers (38kV thru 500kV). As knowledge progresses and
skills are demonstrated, this person will advance to working
individually and even guiding customer personnel. Over the course
of time, the person will advance to have a high level of technical
expertise as well as organization, leadership, and communication
skills. Required traveling is approx. 90%. How You'll Make an
Impact (responsibilities)
- Entry Level High Voltage Breaker Field Service Technicians are
responsible for the environmentally safe performance of field
service activities with either direct supervision or remote
technical guidance.
- Execute technical field assignments involving the routine
service and installation, assembly, and/or repair of circuit
breakers rated 38kV thru 550kV. May be assigned to work
individually or as part of a larger repair / maintenance
project
- Responsible for troubleshooting equipment operational /
performance issues, routine preventative maintenance, and assisting
in major maintenance projects.
- While performing service at a customer's site, will be
responsible for collecting pertinent equipment data and other
specific information involved in the service of this
equipment.
- Field Service Technicians work with the Field Service Engineer
for guidance with equipment electrical control circuits and
high-level troubleshooting.
- Follow a standard set of procedures and/or work under the
direction of a Field Service Engineer or supervisor.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, (written and/or
verbal), regarding safety, (i.e. tailgate meetings), security or
environmental incidents, safety violations or near misses.
- Responsible for completing time & expense and field service job
reports, using Siemens on-line/administrative tools or
software.
- Follow and/or enforce Siemens Environmental Health & Safety
policies
- Perform duties in accordance with customer, industry and
corporate laws, regulations, and standards What You Bring
(requirements)
- A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or
a similar technical discipline. A high school diploma with Military
training in related electrical engineering technologies will be
accepted in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
- Ability to read basic electrical drawings.
- Willingness to become proficient with the operation of the
standard circuit breaker test equipment (such as: Digital Low
Resistance Meters, Breaker Analyzers, SF6 Gas Analyzers, CT Test
Sets, and Digital Multi-Meters).
- This position will require extensive travel, up to 90% of the
time
- Requires ability to read and understand electrical control and
hydraulic circuits.
- Must demonstrate proficient mechanical skills, including the
ability to operate hand tools, power tools, multimeters, ladders
and PPEA sense of personal accountability when it comes to both
decision-making and supervising project teams
- Excellent time management, communication, and organizational
skills
