In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world's leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.What You'll Do

  • You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.
  • The Director will be responsible for leading and mentoring technical team members (Engineering and Design) on key Life Sciences projects. This team would be a multi-discipline team (Process, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument/Control System engineering disciplines) focused on design deliverables in support of Life Sciences Design and/or Construction projects.
  • Instill passion, optimism, and purpose, and act as a resource to our professionals providing them with guidance, support, and mentorship
  • Delegate assignments to the design team, and empower team members to grow in depth and flexibility
  • Manage department resources, participate in resource workload projections, and provide estimates -
  • Grow the business through proactive and positive client contact, effective communication, and mentorship of our professionals
  • Ensure production of the highest quality of work in the most efficient manner
  • Collaborate with department and engineering managers to develop standards and best practices
  • Provide regular performance feedback, conduct annual merit reviews, and perform peer reviews of professionals' work
  • Provide technical coordination and communication within the department, and between departments, project managers, and leadership
  • Oversee the technical accuracy of the work product by defining and implementing the design concept, reviewing work products for accuracy and completeness, and taking responsibility for overall quality of design and construction documents
  • Seal project construction documents
  • Interface with vendors to determine equipment sizing and hydronic piping system design, and select mechanical equipment
  • Perform site observations and studies, and write technical reports
  • Review, edit, and develop project specifications
  • Assist project managers in developing proposals by providing hours, sheet count, scope of work, project strategy and constraints, and appropriate clarifications and exclusions
  • Prepare RFPs for subconsultants, third party resources, and any other specialty consultants necessary to fulfill project design and permitting requirements
  • Review and summarize bids, and provide project managers and clients with recommendations on the awarding of contracts
  • Ensure that contractors and sub-contractors perform quality work
  • Engage with local, regional, and national organizations involved in the development of regulatory guidelines that form the framework of the practice
  • Participate in workload leveling and coordination
  • Assist in the growth and development of the organization and business by participating in marketing, proposal development, and project management, and engaging in the candidate recruitment process

    • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program
    • Be a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of North Carolina with the ability to be "Responsible-In-Charge" for our AEP projects executed in the area.
    • Be client-facing in the target-rich Life Sciences Raleigh market with credibility for Integrated Project opportunities - leading with Design and complemented by our local Construction Management capability.
    • Be a self-motivated leader capable of managing a complex multi-discipline project with resources from various hubs/offices as needed
    • The ability to execute engineering work efficiently by performing design and calculations, producing construction documents and specifications, performing peer reviews, conducting site evaluations, and writing technical reports
    • Solid interpersonal, mentorship, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Proficiency in technical writing
    • A willingness to travel to project sites
