The Water Resources Engineer position is an experienced level
position that requires a broad understanding of hydrology and
hydraulics as it relates to civil engineering, how to interface
with private and public clients, and how to manage water resources
projects. This position has specialized knowledge and experience in
four or more key practice areas and the ability to independently
accomplish project level work with a moderate level of supervision.
This position understands the flow of civil engineering projects
across teams and the ability to integrate their knowledge and
skills where needed to improve the project execution and meet
schedule and budge. The PE has a strong working knowledge and
experience in water resources modeling and design. They work
independently and directly with the engineering, environmental,
landscape architecture, and surveying groups within the firm to
facilitate a broad range of projects. They report to the Director
of the Water Resources team.

Must be well versed in a broad range of water resources services
and demonstrate proficiency in at least four practice areas.
Exhibit knowledge of local, State and Federal regulatory floodplain
issues in NC, SC, VA, and TN.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of fluvial geomorphology
principles and natural stream design.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of stormwater management
regulations and planning including WQ BMP design.
Demonstrate a high competency level in the following disciplines:
hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain management, master planning,
stormwater design, steady state and dynamic modeling.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge in the application of
AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
Demonstrate a strong working knowledge in HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS,
SWMM, or similar modeling platforms.
Serves on Committees and Teams as requested by management.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (MS preferred) and 4-6 years of
experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or
related field with focus on hydrology and hydraulics and a
demonstrated proficiency in at least 4 of the key practice
PE License in North Carolina or ability to obtain with 6
Floodplain Manager Certification (CFM) is a plus.
Knowledge of FEMA or state level flood mapping considered a
Demonstrated understanding of ecological principles with analytical
skills to solve complex problems.
Demonstrated experience in lead role on water resources projects
(e.g., decision making on modeling approach, establishing design
criteria, developing workflow, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the
ability to produce high quality written reports and oral
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to provide guidance to
junior and entry level engineers.
Strong project management and time management skills with the
ability to perform multiple simultaneous projects.
Ability to complete project tasks on time and within budget.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS,
GPS data collection.
Proficiency in HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar modeling
Valid North Carolina driver's license.
