Our focus is on IBM Cloud VPC, and we are part of the team building IBM's cloud platform designed to deliver performance and predictability for our customers' most demanding workloads, at global scale and with leadership efficiency, resiliency and security. Are you candidate we're looking for, who innovates & has a real passion for winning in the cloud marketplace?This position is for a mid- to senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who should have at least 7 years' industry experience maintaining and operating production services. In this role you will have the ability to bridge the gap between development and operations. You will spend time writing code, analyzing the system, and assisting customers.You will work as a member of the Site Reliability team with the following key responsibilities:Diagnose issues in software delivered by various development teams within IBM Cloud VPC.Provide detailed trouble reports back to the development teams including automated methods to reproduce any defects.Work with the team to ensure automation and the highest level of determinism possible in the installation and configuration of new systems (software and hardware).Document processes and the interaction of software and system as necessary to enable in others.Maintain services post-deployment through data collection and monitoring ensuring overall health of the services provided.Participate in and support other teams with trouble issues when on call.Participate in retrospectives and other review activities as part of a continuous improvement process.Engage and encourage collaboration while focusing on issue resolution.Engage in meaningful planning to improve software, systems, and processes.Required Technical and Professional Expertise7+ years' as with systems and/or software engineering.2+ years' in software development.2+ years' with systems engineering.2+ years' in debugging software.Experience in a DevOps environment.Experience with Cloud Services.Experience with OpenStack or similar proprietary cloud like Azure or AWS.Familiarity with CI/CD and their pipelines; experience with Zuul or Jenkins a plus.Familiarity with containers and high-availability clusters; experience with Docker and Kubernetes a plus.Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking.Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseStrong background in network engineering a plus, or experience with routing and switching hardware.Experience data center operational activities, including turning up servers, configuring networks, or interacting with technicians is a huge plus.A history of collaborating and work well within a team.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbout Business UnitDigitization is accelerating the ongoing evolution of business, and clouds - public, private, and hybrid - enable companies to extend their existing infrastructure and integrate across systems.
