The product development engineer is part of the X-ray R&D team that designs, build and tests new features on the Konica Minolta DR products. Product development engineers contribute ideas and concepts for new products, product enhancements and product customization through teamwork, engineering project leadership, and excellent project coordination and prioritization skills. Specifically, the product development engineer shall focus on ensuring alignment and success with manufacturability and serviceability of the new design concepts, design to cost and the rapid prototyping with inputs from various departments including service and manufacturing.
The product development engineer will also focus on service excellence to ensure the service teams have all the detailed design and troubleshooting information for the KMHA products.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities

Lead design concepts and idea generation to enhance/add new product features with a strong emphasis on improving product reliability.
Developing and testing product prototypes
Performing engineering and quality analysis of designs and prototypes
Identifying design inputs through user research
Focus on service excellence by collaborating with field service engineers both internally and externally
Simplify the product qualification/testing and the equipment installation by KMHA and vendors
Lead the investigation of new technologies for improvement of the existing product designs.
Coordinate with all the disciplines involved in completing projects
Consult with service and manufacturing teams for escalation of product design and troubleshooting related issues
Serve as the expert for all systems on the Konica Minolta KDR product
Develop, maintain and improve our new product development practices
Maintain a professional demeanor, appearance and work environment
Create and maintain troubleshooting manual for the KDR product
Ability to travel and interface with clients and suppliers


Requirements & Qualifications (Education, Specialized Sills, Abilities, & Experience)
Minimum of Associates Degree in computer field and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; as well as:
A bachelor's degree or strong technical background & experience with x-ray imaging equipment
Experience working and/or leading efforts that require hardware & software requirements definition and analysis, architecture definition, design, implementation and test
Ability and willingness to troubleshoot complex design problems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with a focus on technical excellence, responsiveness to customers and innovative thinking is required.
Mechanical design experience is preferred, as is experience within the medical device industry in the development of medical devices.
Troubleshooting and field service experience with x-ray systems
Experience with mechanical and electro-mechanical systems is required.
Proficiency in SolidWorks is preferred.
Experience and skill in applying and transferring new product knowledge to manufacturing, manufacturing processes, medical device regulations, FDA submissions, testing, planning, etc. .
Experience working successfully in a multi-skilled environment and possession of cross-disciplinary skills or the ability to grasp requisite skills outside of core skill-set is preferred.
Ability to make independent decisions and a successful track record of influencing key stakeholders, as well as strong interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills is required.
Must be confident and capable in a customer-facing role, demonstrate proactive and strategic thinking and be able to handle change and ambiguity.
Experience with the full development life cycle and product lifecycle management processes
Experience in medical device product development and commercialization
Experience in Image Processing application fields
Experience and/or knowledge of DICOM, PACS, RIS, HL7 and Medical IT.
Experience and/or knowledge of Digital X-ray Imaging technology and its applications.
