Job Description:
Position Summary The School of Education at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position
in teacher education with a focus on elementary grade multilingual
learners starting July 1, 2026. This is a full-time, 9-month
tenure-line or tenured appointment depending on rank at the time of
hire. Candidates will carry out a research program related to
English language development for multilingual learners with an
emphasis on elementary grade teacher education, actively pursue
external funding, and contribute to collaborative and
interdisciplinary research and instructional efforts across the
School of Education and campus. Candidates also will (a) develop
and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in multilingual
learning and literacy development, including pre-service teacher
education; (b) contribute to the ongoing development of
undergraduate and graduate programs; © actively recruit and
supervise graduate students; (d) support strategic initiatives
across the School and campus; and (e) provide leadership and
service at the local, state, and national levels. Preferred
Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience Strong preference will
be given to candidates with a research focus on teaching and
learning for non-native English speakers in the elementary
grades.
