Sylvan Learning is looking for ENTHUSIASTIC, HAPPY, FLEXIBLE TEAM PLAYERS who LOVE working with kids and helping them achieve success. As a part-time academic coach/instructor, you will receive training to deliver Sylvan's proven, personal approach to learning. We have a 3:1 student to teacher ratio, personalized instruction, and your lessons are prepared for you. We are looking for individuals with expertise in one or more of the following subjects: reading, writing, math, high school math, study skills, SAT/ACT prep.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Proven ability to tutor in-person and virtually
• Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
• Strong problem solving and customer service skills
• Strong team player
• Knowledge of tablet computers (iPads)
  Availability and Commitment Required:
  
  • Range of 6-30 hours per week. Preferred minimum of 12-16 hours per week, however accepting applicants who can commit to as low as 6 hours per week.
  • We are open for tutoring Monday - Thursday 2:30-7:30, Saturday mornings 9:30-1:30. Exact days/times vary by location.
  • Online and in person training is required
    Experience Required:
    
    • Four year degree in education or an applicable subject (ex: English, Math, etc)
    • State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired)
    • Minimum of one or two years of teaching/tutoring experience preferred
    • Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension required for reading teachers; Knowledge of math and problem solving strategies required for math teachers
    • Knowledge of common core concepts
      * Please note we do accept applications from college students working towards an education and/or subject specific degree.
      
      Compensation:
      
      • $13-$16/hour upon completion of training period
      • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance options available for employees who consistently work 30 or more hours per week.
