Job Description Job Description About the Role: The Assistant
Superintendent plays a critical role in supporting the
Superintendent to ensure the successful execution of construction
projects from inception to completion. This position involves
overseeing daily operations on-site, coordinating subcontractors,
managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality
standards. The Assistant Superintendent acts as a key liaison
between project management, field personnel, and clients to
facilitate clear communication and timely resolution of issues. By
closely monitoring project progress and resource allocation, this
role helps to maintain budgetary and timeline goals. Ultimately,
the Assistant Superintendent contributes to delivering high-quality
construction projects that meet or exceed client expectations while
adhering to regulatory requirements. Minimum Qualifications: High
school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or higher in
Construction Management or related field preferred. Minimum of 3
years of experience in a construction supervisory role, preferably
as a foreman or assistant superintendent. Strong knowledge of
construction processes, safety regulations, and quality control
standards. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints,
plans, and technical documents. Valid driver’s license and ability
to work on construction sites in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction
Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline. Experience
with project management software such as Procore, PlanGrid, or
Microsoft Project. OSHA 30-hour safety certification or equivalent
safety training. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience
managing diverse teams on large-scale construction projects.
Familiarity with sustainable building practices and LEED
certification processes. Responsibilities: Assist the
Superintendent in planning, organizing, and directing construction
activities on-site to ensure project milestones are met. Coordinate
and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and laborers to maintain
efficient workflow and adherence to project specifications. Monitor
daily progress and quality of work, conducting regular site
inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and
company standards. Collaborate with project managers and engineers
to update schedules, resolve issues, and implement corrective
actions as needed. Maintain accurate documentation including daily
reports, safety logs, and material inventories to support project
tracking and reporting. Skills: The Assistant Superintendent
utilizes strong organizational and communication skills daily to
coordinate multiple teams and ensure smooth project execution.
Technical skills such as blueprint reading and familiarity with
construction software enable accurate planning and progress
tracking. Leadership and problem-solving abilities are essential
for managing on-site challenges and maintaining team motivation.
Knowledge of safety protocols is applied continuously to enforce a
secure working environment and reduce risk. Additionally, time
management and adaptability help the Assistant Superintendent
respond effectively to changing project demands and priorities.
