Job Description:

Position Summary

AAPC's members rely on AAPC for information about coding, billing, auditing, risk adjustment, compliance, management, and other parts of the healthcare revenue stream. The AAPC Development Editor researches, writes, and edits content for a number of stakeholders, uses, and media. The Development Editor serves our members and non-members by helping develop up-to-date content about the healthcare revenue stream's conventions, processes, and regulations.

Job duties include, but may not be limited to:
Research, write, and edit content for print and web based on product assignments
Conduct interviews via telephone or email with experts and on-the-ground healthcare professionals
Copyedit based on product assignments, including both internally and externally produced content
Edit/write marketing copy as needed
Ensure on-time delivery of all content
Collaborate with AAPC department heads and product owners on content and projects
Participate in editorial content meetings and decisions

Ideal candidate will have:
Five years writing and editing non-fiction for print or web
Strong attention to detail
Exceptional writing skills
Exceptional editing skills
Exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
Familiarity with official writing styles (AP, APA, U of Chicago)
Great team player
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Professional and courteous dealing with co-workers and sources in the field
Creative and self-motivated
Willing to take risks and fail; problem solver
Able to pass writing and editing test
Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with OneDrive and SharePoint a plus
Creative and self-motivated
Willing to work extra hours, if needed
Knowledge and writing experience in medical coding, reimbursement, healthcare a plus (CPC or similar AAPC credential preferred); SME in coding/billing/auditing/healthcare preferred
Experience working with remote/international teams a plus

Education requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field
Coding or billing certification a plus; willingness to obtain healthcare credential in the future, if you don't have one
