Financial Officer for UNC Faculty Physicians will lead the finance
functions for the UNCFP including direct oversight of the UNCFP
operational finance function and team, partnering with the UNC
School of Medicine and UNC Chapel Hill finance teams as well as UNC
Health Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Revenue Cycle, and Financial
Planning and Analysis teams to ensure the UNCFP remains
operationally and financially healthy and sustainable.
Specifically, the CFO will be responsible for the development and
implementation of financial strategic direction and annual
budgeting process, will provide financial oversight of the
component units of UNCFP, will provide accurate, detailed, and
informative financial reporting, and will support all aspects of
the UNCFP leadership and operating teams on financial and related
matters. The CFO will serve as a resource to the UNC Faculty
Practice Board, the UNC Faculty Practice Executive Committee, and
will participate and partner as an executive on the senior
leadership team of the UNCFP, as well as a health care system
finance team.Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Provides financial leadership to assure
the long-term stewardship of resources and sustainability of
UNCFP's mission. Provides oversight and coordination in developing
the annual operating budget, including oversight and support of the
financial leads of the clinical units (e.g. clinical service lines
and clinical departments of UNC SOM) in this effort. Sets and
adheres to performance targets for UNCFP for operating income,
adjusted operating income (inclusive of transfers), cash flow and
days cash on hand. Consolidate budgets from all departments of
UNCFP. Creates integrated budgets inclusive of clinical and
academic functions. Prepares and presents materials to the FP
Executive Committee and Board, the Executive Council, and the HCS
Board. Develops and maintains the long-term operating, financial,
and capital plan in support of the UNC Health system operating,
financial and capital plan, especially as it applies to development
of ambulatory clinical and academic space. Assures availability of
resources to meet long-term financial obligations. Oversees and
coordinates the investments of UNCFP in accordance with all
applicable policies. Manages UNCFP-wide financial statement
preparation. Oversees monthly and annual reporting and prepares
materials for annual audits. Oversees cost allocation and taxation
methodologies across all departments. Reports and tracks operating
trends including identifying units deviating from financial
targets. Develops cost accounting tools that accurately measure the
financial activity and performance of various functional/clinical
units and clinical service lines/clinical departments. Partners
with system revenue cycle to ensure UNCFP has a top decile revenue
cycle, coding and compliance performance for UNCFP. Develops,
implements, and reviews policies. Maintains internal controls,
management estimates and financial statement production.
Participates as a member of the Health Care System leadership team,
directly reporting to the System Associate CFO, helping shape
strategy and execute strategic priorities. As an embedded and
primary member of the UNCFP leadership team, supports and has
direct accountability to the President of UNCFP while partnering
with other members of the UNCFP central leadership team, Department
Chairs, Service Line leaders, and Department Associate Chairs of
Administration. Supports the UNC SOM CFO and Vice Dean by
overseeing the financial leads of the clinical units as it pertains
to the clinical mission. Partners with the UNC Hospital CFO to
create integrated planning and reporting for UNC Hospital and UNC
Faculty Practice.

(12) years of progressively responsible financial experience,
ideally in academic health system, including ten (10) years of
