Description:The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the
Credit Union expense reporting system (Certify) and will serve as
the primary contact for expense inquires. The individual will
compile financial information, identify, evaluate, and resolve
issues related to organizational expenses, assets and receivables.
The individual who excels in this position will use their
analytical skills to proactively provide assistance and advice on
data entry, extraction and reporting of data entered into various
Accounting systems and other operational support to the Credit
Union and/or affiliates with minimal supervision.Normal Day-to-Day
Work
- Process expenses/receivables for the Enterprise and Board of
Directors. Audit/retain a current record of Company credit card
issuance.
- Partner with Accounting Operations Manager to oversee all areas
of T&E reporting, analysis, auditing, and accounting system
queries.
- Oversee the timely submission of monthly staff expense reports
and auditing of supporting documentation to ensure compliance.
Uphold corporate policies as it relates to travel and expense
reimbursement.\
- Ensure staff's monthly corporate credit card expense reports
reconcile with outstanding card balances and proactively provide
advice and assistance to resolve discrepancies.
- Review, prioritize, analyze, identify root causes and
effectively resolve complicated, confidential and/or highly
sensitive travel and expense issues.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to produce, review, and
update user training programs for expense systems and provide face
to face and online expense management training to all staff.
- Collaborate with Budget Reporting to maintain accuracy of
system coding options and communicate information to appropriate
staff to ensure transactions are posted in appropriate budget
categories.
- Use Certify's reporting tools to disseminate summary
information to the company's senior leadership team, including
reports showing travel trends and policy compliance.
- Obtain and verify applicable tax documentation, ensuring
accurate and thorough information is reported to the appropriate
taxing agencies (W-9, 1099) and adherence to corporate policies,
procedures, and guidelines, as well as all applicable laws,
regulations, and GAAP in all job duties.
- Actively work to develop and implement efficient processes,
document Standard Operating Procedures, test new accounting
systems, and assist with projects as requested.Job
QualificationsHere are a few skills you MUST have to be considered
for this position.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of financial/accounting experience.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLookups and Pivot
Tables).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving
skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment
and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to:
PC, copier, telephone, etc.
- Some travel may be required for meetings, trainings, and
conferences.Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to

- BA/BS or equivalent accounting experience.
- Experience preparing general ledger account reconciliations and
journal entries.
- Experience with an Expense Management System (i.e. Concur,
Certify) and Sage Intacct
