The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

    About SouthLight HealthcareFounded in 1970, SouthLight Healthcare is one of the area's largest and long-established nonprofit providers of substance use treatment and mental health services. With outpatient and community-based programs, SouthLight provides prevention, education and treatment services in the Triangle and beyond. SouthLight has multiple office locations throughout the Triangle area, serving more than 9,000 clients each year. Services include adult outpatient counseling, Intensive Outpatient Program, Psychiatric Services and Medication Management, Opioid Treatment Program, Court Deferral Program, Peer Support Services, Family Centered Treatment, Community Support Team and a residential treatment program for women and children and more.
    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
    • Responsible for all grant financial reporting, tracking, and compliance.
    • Produces weekly and quarterly productivity report. Follow ups with all Sr. and Program Directors to analyze variances and determine causes of shortfalls in contacts with clients.
    • Responsible for working with HR and all program staff that staff allocations in payroll and reconcile to the general ledger.
    • Responsible for month and year end prepaid and accrued expense reconciliation and entries.
    • Responsible for month and year end payroll accruals.
    • Assists CFO with preparation of monthly financial statements.
    • Assists CFO and Director of Development in Grant Application Process.
    • Assists CFO with annual external audit and 990 preparation.
      • Possesses detailed knowledge of the company's mission and goals.
      • Demonstrates strong project management skills.
      • Able to hold people and teams accountable in a precise, positive and productive manner.
      • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
      • Demonstrates ability to manage time efficiently and multi-task effectively.
      • Operates with integrity, honesty and transparency. Exercises good judgment and appreciates the need for confidentiality and discretion on sensitive and protected matters.
      • Demonstrates solid organizational skills.
      • Communicates clearly and effectively in writing and spoken language.
      • Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer programs like Word, Excel, and Power Point, as well as the finance, HR, and other IT systems chosen and implemented by the organization.
      • Exhibits ability to think creatively and analytically.
      • Possesses strong problem-solving skills.
      • Is able to multi-task, prioritize and track tasks with proficiency.
      • Possesses physical and mental stamina necessary to work 40+ hours.
        Education and Experience
        • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance and 5+ years' experience;
        • or Associate's Degree in accounting or finance and 10+ years of experience is required.
        • Industry experience highly preferred.
        • Experience with Federal Grants is highly preferred.
        • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge highly preferred.
          BENEFITSFull-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities.
