Accounting Specialist - (Hybrid)

* $60,000 - $70,000 yearly, based on experience

Southern Energy Management (SEM), a mission-driven B-Corp and
leader in energy efficiency and renewable energy, is currently
seeking a full-time Accounting Specialist to support our
Administrative Department known as Core Services. . The Accounting
Specialist position serves as a critical link within all of our
business lines, and is knowledgeable about AR, AP, Job Costing, and
the General Ledger. The ideal candidate for this position will be
someone possessing the ability to switch from one role to another
and to understand and commit to meeting multiple deadlines. We are
looking for a strong team player, with excellent communication
skills who is positive and enthusiastic, driven to succeed, and
with a strong commitment to sustainable energy and business
practices.
Accountabilities:
Accounts Payable and vendor records maintenance, including timely
invoice entry and payment processing, Expense Reimbursements, COI
and W9 maintenance, online payment portal management, Sales and Use
tax maintenance and reporting, and annual 1099 preparation.
AR invoicing, AR collections follow up, processing and application
of payments.
Manage, review and process business credit card statements;
Manage and process daily deposit of checks; applying payments and
updating related software systems.
Balance sheet account reconciliations including but not limited to
bank, fixed assets, depreciation, and AP related liability
accounts.
Assist with overhead annual budget process
Maintain digital filing for all AR/AP records/documentation
Essential Experience, Technical Skills and Competencies
2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably working in the
construction environment
Demonstrated ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize
information to create accurate reports and schedules
Strong organizational, analytical skills, high degree of focus and
attention to detail
Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment under tight
deadlines and conduct work independently
Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and resourcefulness in
solving problems
High proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook required
