INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: CONTROLLER - Are you an analytical leader with the ability to drive results Do you consistently challenge the status quo and seek to drive continual improvement -Are you ready to join a -growing -and dynamic -organization -Standard Title is the southeast's first specialized commercial title insurance agency and we partner with our clients in everything we do. - - We are seeking an independent contractor as our part-time Controller -for approximately -15 -hours per week. As the" -Controller, -you will be responsible for the development and execution of the Company's accounting function (including preparing regular financial statements); ensuring appropriate internal control processes; preparation and management of the Company's annual budget; and financial analysis. In addition, you will manage the preparation and processing of -payroll -for Company personnel. The" -Controller" -will report directly to the Company's Director of Operations. - - POSITION TYPE - Part-time/hourly - RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE - Develop, build out and execute the Company's financial and accounting functions, including monthly financial statement preparation and reporting to the Director of Operations and President, and ensuring appropriate internal control processes. - Managing -the monthly financial close process in partnership with the -Director of Operations. - Improving -and overseeing -internal control systems to ensure accurate financial statements and appropriate control environment within -the Company. - Preparation and management of the Company's annual budget -in partnership with the Director of Operations and President. - Prepare reports and other information and work closely with the Company's CPA for preparation of Company and employee tax -documents and information. - Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, and -customer credits and collections. - Responsible for monthly -payroll -for exempt and non-exempt employees, including for salaried and non-salaried employees and for payment of commissions. - Ad hoc reporting and analysis, along with -other -office-related -projects on an as-needed basis, as assigned by Company leadership. - Overall, begin to -increase the efficiency in the Company's financial reporting, accounting and -payroll -processes and procedures. - - PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of finance and accounting experience or experience as a controller, and experience with the -payroll -function. -Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. - Experience with -revenue control, financial reporting and cash handling. - Experience with -the title insurance and/or real estate industries a plus. - Ability to prepare monthly financial statements, key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses. - Outstanding presentation and communication skills, and the ability to distill complex data and information into simple takeaways / implications. - Unquestionable work ethic and drive to achieve success. - Unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity. - Contributes to the development of an organizational strategy and justifies it with market insight. - Proactively seeks to improve processes and implement best in class solutions. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships, both internally and externally. - Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office -and Intuit -Quickbooks. Proficiency with Gusto -payroll -management services a plus. - Strong analytical and organizational skills. - Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. - Outgoing and easygoing personality. - - PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to -lift up -to 10 pounds - Ability to sit for long periods of time - (unless accommodations are required/requested for an employee under the ADA) - TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS - 10% or less COMPENSATION Commensurate with experience.
