Job Description:
The Assistant Banquet manager should consistently achieve the
service and product delivery standards with a high degree of client
care and service. Assist the Banquet Manager and staff in creating
and executing exceptional and memorable guest experiences. The
Assistant Banquet Manager is responsible with assisting the Banquet
Manager in the overall direction, and helping with the day-to-day
operation of the banquet department, in accordance with The Umstead
Hotel standards.Job Requirements:Report to work at the scheduled
time, neatly groomed and dressed in accordance with The Umstead
Hotel & Spa standard.Exceptional knowledge of all Umstead Hotel
banquet standards and operating procedures.Exceptional attention to
detail.Exceptional leadership qualities and management techniques
to successfully lead the banquet department.Exceptional
communication abilities to direct associates and interact with
guests, clients and internal departments to build relationships.The
ability to directly oversee the actual set-up and service of
contracted functions by giving specific event information to the
servers through pre-shift meetings.Coordinate the timing of the
events with the Executive Chef/Banquet Chef by assigning functions
to the Captain and Banquet Servers to insure success.Anticipate
guest and onsite contact needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond
urgently and appropriately to concerns and requests.Being able to
consistently perform tasks and direct others within a given time
frame to insure all event components are setup and executed on
time.Being able to consistently perform tasks with autonomy.Assist
with performing administrative duties including closing banquet
checks, inventory and preparing supply requisitions/ordering,
payroll and banquet service charge worksheet.Attend all required
meetings/precons in the absence of the Banquet Manager.Assist with
scheduling all colleagues to maintain the service standards of The
Umstead Hotel & Spa while operating within budgeted labor cost
guidelinesAssist with hiring, training, motivating, retaining,
disciplining, evaluating and supervising the work of banquet
associates, ensuring that that all are complying with The Umstead
Hotel & Spa Vision and Values.Ensure proper care, security and
maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of
associatesMaintain daily housekeeping and maintenance program to
include storage and operational areas and associate
appearance.Direct associates to maintain the back of the house
cleanliness and safety.Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and
quarterly department meetings.Comply with The Umstead Hotel & Spa
Vision and Values.Insure all associates are work harmoniously and
professionally with co-workers, supervisors and other hotel
departments.In addition, other duties may be required as directed
by your manager#UHSSJPhysical Requirements:Must be able to
continuously stand/ walk a minimum of 8 hoursMust be able to
periodically lift and carry up to 30 lbs. over the course of a
shift.Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of
a shift.Qualifications:Education:High school or equivalent
education required. Hospitality degree preferred.Experience:Minimum
of 2 years at a banquet captain position or above at an upscale
