Job Description:
As a Summer intern for the North Carolina Railroad Company, you
will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced
professionals in the Railroad and Civil Engineering field.
Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering and working with
our Infrastructure Manager, you'll be involved in a range of
exciting projects aimed at maintaining and improving the
transportation infrastructure that is so critical to the state of
North Carolina's economy/ This is an exceptional chance to gain
hands-on experience in the field and develop skills that will serve
you well in your future career or even with the North Carolina
Railroad Company. Assist the Infrastructure Manager in Processes
NCRR utility agreements, rights of entry (excluding environmental
rights of entry), and project files to completion, including the
documentation of projects into the permanent archives and
accounting system in accordance with NCRR company procedures.Assist
with reviewing plans, agreements, and other submittals while
providing comments and communications to consultants externally and
NCRR internally. Document construction activities with written
reports and photographs. Assist the management team, as requested,
with engineering and rail and infrastructure asset planning issues
and support, including the company's economic development
initiatives and projects consistent with the NCRR Strategic Plan to
be involved, from an engineering technical perspective, in economic
development and recruitment of rail-served business and industry
across the state. Work with NCRR's Real Estate Department, where
land encroachment licenses are also to be undertaken in conjunction
with other agreements related to the use of the Company's rail
corridor (such as third-party licenses, grade crossing agreements,
utilities, or other activities). REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE: Rising Junior or Senior enrolled in a Civil or
Railroad Engineering major GPA: 2.8 Must be in good academic
standing Interns will be expected to complete the Roadway Worker
Training within the first 30 days of the program. TRAVEL
REQUIREMENTS: Some fieldwork is required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work is predominantly conducted in an office setting.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Other duties: Please
