Location:Youngsville, NCSouthwire Job DescriptionThe Front-End
Engineering Manager is a key member of the site's Leadership Team.
This position leads a team responsible for the initial stages of
the engineering process of a customer order, ensuring seamless
integration between customer requirements, design feasibility, and
the manufacturing process. This role oversees a group of talented
engineers and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to
drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in the development of ETO
solutions. Key Responsibilities: --- Safety: o Drive and maintain a
safe working environment through diligence in accident prevention,
investigation, equipment maintenance, and policy enforcement and
compliance. --- Strategic Planning: o Develop and implement
strategic goals and initiatives in alignment with business
objectives. --- Production Planning and Scheduling: o Collaborates
with the Planning and Production Control department in the
scheduling or production and deliveries. --- Sourcing
(non-strategic): o Leads and coordinates sourcing of special
materials requiring engineering specifications to ensure
competitive costs and lead times to meet customer requirements. o
Collaborates with Procurement team in the purchasing and expediting
of these special materials. --- Business Development / Project
Coordination: o Oversee the initial engineering phase, working
closely with sales, design, and manufacturing teams to translate
customer specifications into viable engineering solutions. o Lead
all activities related to preparing technical pricing and
commercial proposal quotations for Temporary Power Distribution
products and Cabling Solutions, using SAP's Configure-Price-Quote
(CPQ) software. o Track quotation and order hit rate activity,
enabling Sales Manager and outside sales engineers to monitor
customer/channel partner effectiveness. --- Product Engineering: o
Lead team of Customer Order and Maintenance of Line Engineers
responsible for the design and development of custom electrical
products and the technical support throughout the products
lifecycle. o Lead team responsible for maintaining data for SAP's
CPQ and Variant Configuration (VC) software to enable accurate
quoting and building bills of materials for production. o Lead team
responsible for developing and maintaining all design documents and
specifications including Bills of Materials, Wiring Diagrams,
Drawings and their corresponding APQP documentation for all
products manufactured at the site. --- Quality Assurance: o Drive
BOM accuracy in SAP and complete product design documentation. o
Assist with Design for Manufacturability efforts and drive
cross-functional collaboration. o Participate in the creation and
maintenance of Standard Work Instructions. o Drive the creation and
deployment of processes to manage customer order changes. o
Collaborate with the Quality and Manufacturing teams to develop
product inspection and testing procedures and equipment. ---
Feasibility Assessment: o Evaluate technical feasibility and
resource requirements for proposed projects, conducting risk
assessments and providing recommendations. --- Process
Optimization: o Develop and implement streamlined processes and
best practices to improve efficiency in the front-end engineering
phase, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and
quality standards.Short DescriptionRequired Qualifications:
Education and specialized knowledge, skill, or experience (e.g.,
technical, scientific, administrative, managerial), which this
position requires. --- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical
Engineering or a related field. --- 5+ years of Engineering
experience. --- 3+ years experience in the manufacturing industry.
--- 2+ year experience in management position. Preferred
Qualifications: Other requirements important for the job, but not
essential. --- 2+ year of product, customer service, inside sales,
or proposals experience in a technical field. --- Experience in
manufacturing Bills of Materials and Routings. --- Experience using
ERP (SAP proffered) and quotations systems. --- Knowledge of
electrical power products and systems. --- Strong problem-solving
and analytical skills. --- Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills for customer interactions. --- Ability to work
